It contains all of the necessary theoretical components - Understanding Challenging Behaviour, Reactive Strategies and Physical Interventions and the Law.

  An introduction to Challenging Behaviour including defining challenging behaviour, causes of challenging behaviour and perceptions of behaviour.

• Reactive Strategies

  

  This course focuses on the development of Individual Reactive Strategies and incorporates the Low Arousal Approach (SPACED), de-escalation skills, diversion & distraction techniques. The learner will be able to positively contribute to the development of strategies and will be equiped with practical skills to aid de-escalation.

• Physical Interventions & The Law

  

  This course examines the legal implications of applying physical interventions in response to challenging behaviour. It highlights key legislation and guidelines. The learner will develop the ability to recognise when physical interventions are necessary, justifiable, legal & ethical.
